Laureate Concert Group

IS A FORUM of particularly gifted artists with extensive education in classic voice, stringed instruments and piano. LCG promotes these musicians on the Internet through high definition multi-camera video and multi-channel studio quality audio recordings.

We pride ourselves in providing concert recordings for these artists at reasonable cost. Since our classic videos are watched at the rate of about 1.000 per day there is an added value in being listed with LCG by giving the musician unique public exposure.

PROVIDES

  • fine stringed instruments. We precondition our tone wood according to the latest research on Italian vintage wood before handcrafting copies of historic Cremona instruments. On hand of an audio data base of some of the most famous instruments of the late 17th and early 18th century we then fine tune construction of our own newly built instruments.

  • and

  • top-of-the-line pianos. We represent the venerable piano manufacturer Steingraeber & Soehne (Bayreuth) in the Republic of the Philippines. Steingraeber was formed back in 1852 and his pianos were favoured by some of the great composers such as Richard Wagner and Franz Liszt. Actually Liszt used the Steingraeber House as his music salon. This piano is easy to distinguish from all others by its distinctive sound and unique character.

a word from the editor

Tom Frinta

After starting out in September 2003 as a non-profit experiment to help exceptionally talented students we created a forum, where they could work with established masters of music and profit from the resulting synergy. Initially everything was financed through private means. In support of voice ensemble training we performed only 2 years later unabbridged Rossini's opera buffa "Il Turco in Italia" and in 2006 we opened our chambre music project by inviting the London Piano Trio.

However it soon became evident, that the main concern was the lack of interest by agencies and organizers for fear of not being able to market musicians virtually unknown to the general public. All of a sudden it became a promotional challenge for LCG to create demand.

We soon found ourselves in territory virtually hostile to the arts, a rather sobering world without ethical coordinates. Potential sponsors were too much concerned in getting a return rather than doing a good deed. In one case a well-known orchestra refused to permit a non-commercial recording of an exceptional student for fear of giving away goodwill. Not even the conductor could change their mind. Shortly thereafter the same student won first prize in a famous international competition. All of a sudden they all were queuing up to get some of the sunshine. Meanwhile Laureate Concert Group surpassed the one million clicks on the Internet and our videos are streamed at the rate of 95 hours per day.

Since the times had long moved away from radio to television entertainment so did promotion. The public had to be addressed via video and not through LP's or CD's. Therefore we started to invest heavily in modern recording equipment to participate in the rapidly growing demand for video promotion. Our goal was to offer budget recordings to our artists. These were then posted on the Internet free of charge to the viewer. We speculated that anybody wanting to hire an artist would silently do a search beforehand. But since our merchandise was music we had to provide our HiDef films also with studio sound. The public immediately responded and our artists suddenly moved into the lime light.

In the artists we interview we naturally look out for those signs that provide fertile ground for success. Beside exceptional musical talent these should include team spirit, solid self-esteem, objective self-assessment, unpretentiousness and unabating perseverance.
